Due to poor weather conditions the Lockerby Composite School cancer drive, scheduled to take place April 7, 2016, has been pushed back to Wednesday, April 13.

Students and staff will canvass door-to-door from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to raise funds for the Northern Cancer Foundation to help support the Northeast Cancer Centre's pediatric oncology unit.

Since 1995, the annual Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive, started by Lockerby student Laura Cotesta, has raised nearly $750,000.

Cotesta passed away from her cancer in 1997, but the movement she started at Lockerby Composite School celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2016.

Her mother, Pina Cotesta, has continued to work with Lockerby Composite School to ensure the cancer drive is a success ever year.

“When the students come to your house in green and gold please open your doors, hearts and wallets,” said the Northern Cancer Foundation in a press release.
