Lockerby Composite High School students will be canvassing homes throughout the city this evening (Oct. 27) as part of their 16th annual “Kids Caring for Kids-
Remembering Laura Cotesta Cancer Drive.”

They will be knocking on doors from 5-9 p.m. to raise money for the Northern Cancer Foundation's pediatric cancer fund.

Students involved in the canvass will be wearing appropriate identification.

The students are inspired by the memory of Laura Cotesta. She graduated from Lockerby in 1997 a few weeks before she died of cancer. The teen had to travel to Toronto for treatment for much of her short life; she missed classes and was not able to do many of the things teens enjoy. She was determined other young people would be able to get treatment closer to home.

In 1995, Laura organized a campaign to raise money for the children’s ward of the local cancer centre.
