Louise Paquette invites northerners to 'coffee break'

North East LHIN CEO Louise Paquette is inviting everyone to join her for a virtual coffee break next week.

From 10:30-11 a.m. May 8, she'll host a live virtual coffee break panel discussion, featuring panellists speaking about mental health improvements across northeastern Ontario aimed at reducing fragmentation of services, and improving access to care at the right time and place.

Those interested in joining in on the “coffee break” should phone 1-866-696-5894 and type in the passcode, 3579575.

Questions can also be submitted for panel members in advance at [email protected].

The coffee break event is being held in honour of Mental Health Week, which runs from May 7-11.

"We've chosen the theme 'Putting the Pieces Together for Mental Health' because the North East LHIN has been working with fellow northerners to help build a less fragmented system of care for people in need of mental health services,” Paquette said.

"During recent community engagement sessions, we heard many times about the need to streamline access to care and make it more integrated and consumer-focused.”

On the first day of Mental Health Week, May 7, the North East LHIN will host the inaugural meeting of its new Regional Mental Health and Addiction Advisory Group.

This group of people with expertise from across northeastern Ontario will advise the NE LHIN on the implementation of the province's 10-year strategy Open Minds, Healthy Minds, and provide advice to the LHIN on regional mental health and addiction issues.
