To celebrate International Women's Day, Laurentian University's Presidential Advisory Committee on the Status of Women will honour the achievements of four women during an annual awards ceremony on Friday, March 7, at 3:30 pm in the Brenda Wallace Reading Room at J.N. Desmarais Library, Laurentian University. All are welcome to attend.

This year, four exceptional women working in the arts, humanities or native studies, at Laurentian University and in the Greater Sudbury community, will be recognized.

Kristin Hall, a graduate student in history, will be recognized for her work in women's history and popular culture.

Freda Recollet, administrative secretary in Native Human Services, will be honoured for her work with First Nations students and faculty, both at the university and in the community.

Sylvia Carscadden, an alumna of Laurentian University, is the founder and director of the Kampana Handbells choir. She will be recognized as a champion of women's rights for her work with the YMCA and Genevra House.

Deborah Robertson, singer, perfomer of the honour song at many Laurentian University events, and cultural facilitator, will be honoured for her community work embracing native traditions and healing ways.
