Laurentian University is in the planning stages of setting up a fundraising campaign with a tentative goal of $50 million.
President Judith Woodsworth says the campaign will probably be launched in a year or two. The university could raise money for new buildings, research equipment, more professors or library resources, she says.
Laurentian Association of Mature and Part-Time Students (LAMPS) president Richard Paquette wondered if the campaign could put money towards giving students a break on their tuition fees.
Woodsworth told him the university already has a generous scholarship program and the campaign would probably focus on other areas.
