Luncheon of Hope raises $42,000 to combat breast cancer

The 12th annual Luncheon of Hope was held at the Caruso Club Sept. 24, and raised $42,000 for the Northern Cancer Research Foundation.

The 12th annual Luncheon of Hope was held at the Caruso Club Sept. 24, and raised $42,000 for the Northern Cancer Research Foundation.

Tannys Laughren, executive director of the foundation, said the lunch event is one of the organization's key fundraisers, having brought in almost $400,000 since it began. The funds go towards breast cancer research and patient care at the Regional Cancer Program in Sudbury.

Dr. Amadeo Parissenti, a researcher at the Regional Cancer Program in Sudbury, spoke about the advances being made in breast cancer research and treatment in Sudbury.
