A man who was shot by Greater Sudbury Police Service on April 1 at the downtown transit terminal will be back in court Aug. 8.
Alexander Stavropoulos, 25, made a brief court appearance on Wednesday.
He is charged with four counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and five counts each of assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Stavropoulos was armed with two knives at the time of the incident. He had attempted to gain access to the transit security office when he was confronted by police.
A video of the shooting was captured by eyewitness Jeremy Terry, who said at the time Stavropoulos had been pacing around with knives and that officers had calmly told him to drop the weapons.
“The man let out a possessed kind of yell and charged towards the officer,” Terry said at the time.
Stavropoulos was taken to hospital for treatment.
