The Sudbury community raised $28,709 in the Mandarin MS Walk, which was held May 26 at the MS Centre for Hope.

The local walk, which supports the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, had 129 participants.

MS walks across the province raised $4.1 million, which will go towards support services and programs run by the multiple sclerosis society for those with the condition.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord that affects between 55,000 and 75,000 Canadians.

“I have no idea how we would cope if this financial aid was not available,” said Lorie, who lives with MS, in a press release.

“My MS fatigue is serious and I assure you the day I feel my best is the day the cleaning service comes to my home.”
