Mayoral debate to focus on youth issues

The Young Professionals Association of Sudbury (YPA) is playing host to a mayoral debate Oct. 9 to talk about issues important to the city's youth.

An invitation has been extended to the Sudbury community to attend the debate, taking place at the Days Inn, 117 Elm St., in the Worthington North Room on at 7 p.m. for an open discussion, moderated by CBC’s Up North Host, Jason Turnbull.

Topics will include (but not limited to) transit, job creation, parks and recreation, and other important topics of concern to young professionals in the community.

Ten candidates are currently in the running for Mayor’s chair:

-Ron Dupuis
-Jeff Huska
-Richard Majkot
-Dan Melanson
-Ed Pokonzie
-David Popescu
-John Rodriguez

Members of the community are encouraged to send their questions ahead of time for inclusion in the event. Questions can relate to any issue. This year’s candidates will answer questions that focus on issues affecting students, youth, and young professionals (ages 20-40).
