Meagan Pilon of Sudbury was last seen by her father, Marc, on Sept. 11, 2013. While her disappearance is a cold case, efforts to locate her or find out what happened to her continue with the efforts of a volunteer group called Please Bring Me Home.

Meagan Pilon of Sudbury was last seen Sept. 11, 2013. And while the then 15-year-old hasn’t been seen in nine years, it doesn’t mean people have stopped looking.

Please Bring Me Home is a volunteer group that works to try to close cold-case missing person cases. The group was founded in early 2018 by Nick Oldrieve, Matthew Nopper and Melissa Harwood.

Since its founding, the group says it has helped locate 17 missing people, two of whom were deceased.

“Please Bring Me Home’s mission is to solicit anonymous tips regarding cold case missing persons across Canada,” local members Julie Charette and Natashia Pickering told Sudbury.com in an email. “Our goal is to find the missing and bring them home to their family and friends.”

The group accepts anonymous tips and is active in the field as well, chasing down tips and leads. They speak “with family, friends and anyone who might hold the key to these disappearances.”

“ It is an uncomfortable reality that those who know key details about these disappearances often do not wish to speak with law enforcement,” Sudbury.com was told. “This is where we come in: we are not concerned with the criminality of the cases, but only in locating the missing.”

This Sunday, Please Bring Me Home in Sudbury invites community members to take part in a memorial walk in Meagan’s honour, and in honour of all missing people. The walk also serves to keep the search in the public’s mind, Pickering and Charette said.

The event begins at 11 a.m. on Sept. 11 in the York Street parking lot across from Bell Park.

Following a prayer, there will be a march along Paris Street across the Bridge of Nations to Elm Street, looping on Lisgar Street back to York Street.

“We are encouraging everyone to come participate and help bring our missing persons home.”
