Miners for Cancer donates 100K to PET Scan Fund

Members of the Sam Bruno PET Scan Committee gathered at centre ice at the T.M. Davies Community Arena on Jan. 29 and were presented with a generous donation.

Miners for Cancer contributed $100,000 to the fund to held bring a PET scanner to Sudbury. Miners for Cancer has raised more than $860,000 for cancer equipment, research, and patient care, with the Allan Epps Memorial Hockey Challenge being the largest fundraiser.

A total of 23 teams and more than 350 players took part in the weekend tournament that brings miners from Northern Ontario together for a fun-filled weekend and to raise funds to fight the disease that affects many miners.
