Update - Lockerby Composite School won the Justice Patricia Hennessy Trophy on Monday, regaining the honour from last years' winners from Manitoulin Secondary School.
The Rainbow District School Board, the Sudbury Catholic District School Board and Le Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l'Ontario grade 12 Law students participated in a Mock Trial at the Sudbury Courthouse.
As part of the curriculum, students learn public speaking, teamwork, presentation, preparation and critical thinking skills.
The defendant in this case is accused of importing cocaine into Canada.
A total of 22 teams competed for 5 different awards.
Local winners will compete in the Northeastern Mock Trial in March and regional winners will compete in the Toronto finals in the spring.
