The provincial government is investing more than $1.2 million to help ClientLogic establish a customer support centre for Roger's Communications in the old Zellers location in the Southridge Mall.

Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci, who made the announcement Tuesday, said the local ClientLogic operation is slated to employ 440 people with an annual payroll of approximately $10 million.

Although there is no date for the opening of the new centre, training for the first 100 employees will begin Oct. 30, with training for a second round of 100 hires scheduled for Nov. 27. As the operation grows, there will be room for 440 employees. Renovations to the mall location include upgrading the networking infrastructure and leasehold improvements.

Julie Weingardt, ClientLogic's senior vice-president of regional operations, said Sudbury was chosen from a list of 20 potential cities for the new Roger's Communications and ClientLogic's in-bound customer service operation.

"It was quite evident, even on our first visit here, that your community and people are very eager and ready to help any business establish in Sudbury," said Weingardt, adding Sudbury's quality of life is another big reason ClientLogic chose to set up here.

"With it's beautiful parks, walking trails and other features, Sudbury exemplifies the kind of community where creative people chose to live. These are the people we want to make part of the ClientLogic family."
