Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath joined NDP candidate Suzanne Shawbonquit in greeting a packed room of supporters who came out for the NDP campaign open house Jan. 17.
The NDP Leader spoke to Shawbonquit's commitment to community service and her experience as a local business owner.
“It's not up to us to say what will make a difference, it's up to Sudburians to say what will make a difference for them,” said Horwath, “I think it will be clear when they see a woman of integrity, with passion, who will be a strong voice for them at Queen's Park.”
When asked about the Olivier tapes, Horwath said she found the implications very clear, whether or not the OPP investigation finds otherwise.
“I'm hearing that this is some of the wildest political activity people have ever seen in this community,” said Horwath, “Wynne's Liberals have made it clear that they'd rather talk about what's best for the Liberal party instead of what's best for Sudbury. What we're going to do is what we always do, is work hard to connect with the people in Sudbury, meet as many people as we can, and experience the community in the way that the people do.”
Shawbonquit's mother and family members were among the many volunteers that gathered to rally together before heading out to canvas along side the NDP candidate.
