The former St. Anne?s School will undergo renovations to house the Catholic high school beginning September 2003.

Guy Mathieu has been appointed principal of the new school. He was born and raised in Valley East and is a member of Notre Dame de l ?Espérance.

The public and Catholic school boards had discussed the possibility of housing both the public and separate schools in one building at Confederation High School. They were unable to reach a compromise.

Carter, the longtime bishop of Sault Ste. Marie Diocese died Feb. 17 of this year.

The full name of the new school will be Bishop Alexander Carter Catholic Secondary School.

Meanwhile, Sudbury Catholic District School Board trustees have given Marymount Academy permission to increase the number of Grade 7 students to 92 from 78 this September.

In addition, $110,000 will be spent to build new classrooms.

Enrolment in September is expected to be 491 and increase to 556 by September 2003.
