As part of its continuing monthly initiative, the Rainbow District Animal Control and Shelter Services has circled Oct. 27 for the next adopt-a-thon.
The shelter will once again waive the normal adoption fees for the day and will only charge the fee for the municipal licence for dogs cats or the cost of spay/neuters and microchips for animals that need to be fixed.
The adopt-a-thon has proven to be quite successful, with dozens of cats and dogs being adopted since the shelter played host to the first event. Hundreds of people have visited the shelter not only to adopt a new pet, but to learn more about its services.
The shelter is locate at 411 St. Agnes St. West in Azilda. The adopt-a-thon and open house runs form 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
