In May, Sudbury.com reported that the city's jobless rate — 5.4 per cent at the time — was the lowest in the decade. Now, it's fallen even more.
The unemployment rate in Greater Sudbury was 5.1 per cent by the end of May, falling 0.3 per cent over April. That's one of the lowest jobless rates in the city's history, Greater Sudbury said this week.
In terms of job growth, the Nickel City is doing well, too. Even though the number of jobs fell slightly in May, they are still at historically elevated levels, the city said.
There were 600 fewer full-time jobs in May, though this was offset slightly by a 200-job gain in part-time work.
Still, even with May's dip, Greater Sudbury has seen the fourth highest year-over-year (May 2018 to May 2019) job growth in the country.

The stats show that full-time job growth was mainly in construction, trade services, and accommodation and food services.
There were offset by losses in natural resources, manufacturing, transportation and warehousing, the financial sector, education, and healthcare.
