Conservation Sudbury invites the public to take part in the second annual Friends and Family Ice Fishing Day Feb. 16.

The event takes place at the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area Nature Chalet (2309 South Bay Rd.) from 12-4 p.m.

Because Feb. 15-17 is Ontario Family Fishing weekend, no fishing licenses are required (see more information at ontariofamilyfishing.com).

Ice fishing activities will include learning proper catch and release techniques and making your own ice fishing rod from a stick.

Ice augers, gear and free bait will be available courtesy of the OFAH Tackleshare program and Ramakko’s.

Round out the day with building a snowman or sculpture on the lake, or going for a snowshoe out on the lake or hiking trails – snowshoes and maps will be available for free.

Warm up at any time at the Nature Chalet or by the outdoor fire and enjoy complimentary hot beverages. All ages are welcome. No registration is required.

Phone 705-674-8904 or email [email protected] for more information.
