The Sudbury and Espanola offices of the North East Community Care Access Centre raised a total of $9,690 for the United Way in November and December. The target was $7,500.

“We are very proud of our generous staff,” Kim Morris, North East CCAC director of communications and public affairs, said, in a press release.

“This is a significant amount of money for the 150 employees of the Sudbury branch to raise for one organization, and it is in addition to many other initiatives that take place, particularly at this time of year.”

The employees also collected food for the Edgar Burton Christmas Food Drive, and the annual “Be a Santa to a Senior” campaign which wraps up at the end of this week.

According to North East CCAC CEO Richard Joly, it is all in a day’s work for a group that regularly goes above and beyond.

“Our staff sees the impact of poverty on health and wellness on a daily basis,” he said.

“Not only is it a natural fit to support the United Way’s programs and other charitable initiatives that will have a very direct and beneficial impact on our clients, but our employees also do it cheerfully and with great enthusiasm. It is driven by genuine kindness and caring.”
