One new COVID-19 related death reported in Sudbury District

Another COVID-19 related death has been reported by the Sudbury health unit. This brings the total number of local deaths since the pandemic began in March of 2020 to 155.

Public Health Sudbury and District did not disclose any details other than to report that COVID-19 was the underlying cause of the death and that it occurred in the rural Sudbury District.

PHSD also reported that in the past two days, there was an increase of 71 new COVID cases, with 55 from Greater Sudbury, seven in the Sudbury District and nine in the Manitoulin District. 

It was also revealed there are 14 active outbreaks of COVID-19 in various venues in the city, including long-term care homes, congregate settings and five separate outbreaks at the hospital. Health Sciences North reports 43 confirmed COVID cases in the hospital with one person in the Intensive Care Unit.
