As Operation Red Nose prepares for its busiest night of the year — New Year's Eve — it is looking for volunteer drivers to help ensure party-goers get home safely.

'New Year's Eve is traditionally the busiest night of the campaign, with phones open from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m.," Operation Red Nose said in a news release. "Organizers estimate that it will take 25 to 30 teams to be able to comfortably meet the demand for rides, but so far only enough volunteers have signed up for 15."

If you're interested, application forms may be picked up at any local Tim Horton's location. Forms can be dropped off at the Greater Sudbury Police Records Department (190 Brady Street) between Dec. 28 and Dec. 30.

On New Year's Eve, volunteers will be treated to a hot buffet at the start of the evening as well as many prize draws before heading out on the road. Clients are reminded to have current liability insurance slips for their vehicles on hand and to have a backup plan in place.
