The Northern Initiative for Social Action (NISA) has collaborated with an organization called TAO Tel-Aide to provide more French language services for people living with a mental illness in the Sudbury region.

The Tel-Aide support line will help reinforce the services that are already available from NISA’s Regional Warm Line and will offer more choices for Franco-Ontarians who need support if they're going through a mental health crisis.

“This partnership with TAO Tel-Aide is excellent news for the region. By working together, we will be able to further reduce the isolation and psychological distress of our callers, we will increase access and use of French language services, and hopefully improve the overall well-being of Francophones in the region,” said Martin Boucher, co-ordinator of the Regional Warm Line, in a press release.

The Regional Warm Line is a bilingual peer support line, open from 6 p.m. to midnight, staffed by individuals who have personal experience of mental health challenges.

TAO Tel-Aide is an active listening and referral mental help line, open from 8 a.m. to midnight, staffed by a team of more than 50 well trained volunteers that are supported by various professionals. Both services are open seven days a week, 365 days a year.

The collaboration between both organizations is supported by the Réseau du mieux-être francophone du Nord de l’Ontario and the North East Local Health Integration Network who are committed to improving access to services in French for this region.

The Tel-Aide support-line will help reinforce the services that are already available from NISA’s Regional Warm Line and will offer more choices for Franco-Ontarians.
