Second update:

Power outage in Flour Mill, Notre Dame, and New Sud is over, Greater Sudbury Ultilies said Tuesday afternoon. The cause was an underground cable that shorted out. At peak 1,216 customers were affected.

 

Update:

About 75 per cent of customers now have power, the GSU reports. Another 300 customers still without service. 

 

Original release:

A power outage is currently affecting 1,216 customers in the New Sudbury and Flour Mill areas of Greater Sudbury, Greater Sudbury Utilities said in a news release Tuesday.

“Crews have been dispatched to determine the cause, which remains unknown at this time,” the release said. “We are working on restoring power in sections by rerouting through other feeders.”

The affected area extends from Cambrian Heights in the west of the area, to Gemmell in the east, north from Mcdonald's on Notre Dame Avenue to about Lasalle Boulevard.
