Julia Munro, MPP for York-Simcoe and PC critic for seniors and retirement security, will be in Sudbury Dec. 10 to talk about her recent White Paper on Pension Reform, according to a news release.

While in Sudbury, she will be meeting with seniors to discuss the issues that are facing them and with small business owners to discuss the necessities of pension reform.

Munro’s White Paper on Pension Reform includes recommendations for the creation of a sustainable pension system in the province of Ontario, reining in public sector pensions, and the development of a pooled pension plan for small business owners, stated the press release.

Currently, there are many pension plans throughout Ontario which are under-funded. This could mean that the retirement plans of the next generation of retirees could be in jeopardy.

Munro will be meeting with Sudburians at a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. at the Howard Johnson Hotel. Later in the day, she will be meeting with At Home Instead Seniors Care, a local company that specializes in helping keep seniors in their homes, as well as touring a long-term care/retirement home in the community to meet front-line workers and seniors.
