Welcome to a brand-new episode of Sudbury.com's Person of Interest.
The idea of this series is simple: Each episode, we'll meet an interesting person (or persons) in our community with a story that's just begging to be told.
So far, we've visited a downtown boutique whose owners were sent on a Hollywood adventure, a Juno-nominated Indigenous artist who produced his debut album on his phone and a musician-turned-entrepreneur who has almost single-handedly transformed a piece of the Donovan into one of the coolest neighbourhoods in town.
In this special Pride Week episode, we visit a downtown nightclub that's been a home to the LGBTQ+ community for 20 years — as long as Sudbury's Pride celebration itself.
We'll meet Evie and Tammy, the co-owners and managers of Zig's, the only queer bar in Ontario north of Toronto.
It's one of the most important safe spaces for the queer community, its allies, and anyone else who just wants to be themselves and have a good time.
