A section of Lorne Street near the Independent Grocers is currently closed in both directions after a police cruiser was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Services Traffic Management Unit are currently on the scene of an accident on Lorne Street at Walnut Street investigating an accident that occurred between a GSPS marked police vehicle and a blue Ford that was being driven by a 68-year-old male.

Both officers who were in the police vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The male party driving the Blue Ford was also taken to hospital non-life threatening injuries.

Presently traffic eastbound on Lorne Street is being redirected to Walnut Street and traffic westbound is being redirected to Oak Street.

The community is encouraged to use an alternate route for the next few hours.
