A couple of weeks ago, Canadian Blood Services said it needs 100,000 more donations of blood to make it through the summer.

Now, Sudbury MP Paul Lefebvre and Sudbury MPP Glenn Thibeault have adopted the Sudbury blood donor clinic to help the organization reach that goal. Their goal, the policitians said in a news release, is to help ensure blood products are available to hospital patients in need.

In adopted the Sudbury blood donor clinic at 944 Barrydowne Road, Lefebvre and Thibeault said they're committed to recruiting new donors and filling appointments to help collect 160 donations at the clinic.

“We all know the importance of giving the gift of life. I encourage Sudburians to partner with us, roll up their sleeves and make a donation,” said Thibeault.

“This year, 100,000 new blood donors are needed across Canada to meet patient needs — including 2,400 needed right here in our community. We invite Sudbury residents to join us and make an appointment to donate blood,” Lefebvre said.

Make an appointment at the Sudbury blood donor clinic at 944 Barrydowne Road during the week of June 27 to June 30. You can call to book your appointment or do it online by visiting Blood.ca.
