Hate potholes? Michael Woitowich is asking for your presence at the Wednesday night city council meeting at Tom Davies Square at 7 pm.

The graduating Laurentian University student has asked his Ward 4 Councillor Evelyn Dutrisac to present his petition of 1,600 names as well as consider that 5,700 others have commented on a group set up on Facebook about their personal dealings with potholes everywhere in Greater Sudbury.

Recently Woitowich, along with Northern Life, tailed the city's Pothole Patrol to see what city workers were doing to deal with the scourge on local roads. Woitowich recently suffered several hundreds of dollars damage to his vehicle, and received many similar accounts online of damage from the city's roads.

“I need everybody, who like myself, has suffered from the bad state of the city's roads to show up at city council chambers in support of action on potholes,” said Woitowich.

Dutrisac agreed to present the petition since he was not allowed to do that himself, said Woitowich.

This was Woitowich's first ever petition or political activity of any kind, he said.

“After my car was damaged I just had to take action, get support from other drivers, and hope city councillors will listen,” he said.
