Update: Power knocked out for some 1,200 New Sudbury residents

Update at 7:48 a.m.: Sudbury Hydro says it's found the source of this morning's power outage in New Sudbury.

A faulty underground cable is to blame, the utility said in a tweet a few minutes ago.

"Crews are isolating and are working on restoring," Sudbury Hydro said.

The utility estimates power will be restored to all residents within the hour.

About 1,200 Sudbury Hydro customers in New Sudbury are without power this morning.

In a tweet, the city utility said the outage covers an area from Woodbine Avenue to Attlee Avenue.

No cause has been determined, but in a tweet, Sudbury Hydro reported a loud bang had been heard on Arvo Avenue just before the power went out.

Sudbury Hydro crews are en route to investigate.
