Power has now been restored to the South End. Greater Sudbury Utilities said the cause of the issue was an insulator failure.

More than 200 Greater Sudbury Utilities customers are without power, the utility reported Thursday.

“A feeder in the Long Lake substation has gone offline and customers on Lammi, Jarvi, Sunnyside and Kivinen roads have lost service,” the GSU said in a news release.

Crews are on their way to assess the problem, but there is no time estimate yet regarding when power will be restored. The outage affects 228 customers in total.
