Updated: Power restored to most in Greater Sudbury

Thursday afternoon storm resulted in some power outages

As of the early morning of Aug. 4, power has now been restored to most Hydro One customers in the Greater Sudbury area following yesterday's storm.

Hydro One still reports power outages affecting more than 100 in the Walden area. The estimated time of restoration is now 5:30 p.m. Greater Sudbury Hydro says power has been restored to all of its customers. There was a downed line on Paris Street due to the thunderstorm earlier this afternoon.

Greater Sudbury Utilities reports power has been restored to most of its South End customers. The utility is still working on resolving outages on Ester Street to Treeview Road.

As Greater Sudbury experiences a thunderstorm, Greater Sudbury Hydro has put out a notice saying there is a power outage in the South End affecting around 400 customers on Brenda Drive, St. Charles Lake Road, Middle Lake Road, and other areas nearby.

Crews are investigating. The cause is undetermined. There is currently no estimated time of restoration.

Hydro One is also reporting a power outage affecting 552 customers in the Walden and Beaver Lake areas. The cause is pending classification, and the estimated time of restoration in that case is 3:15 p.m. this afternoon.

There are also scattered smaller Hydro One outages throughout the Greater Sudbury area.
