According to Mike Schreiner, leader of the Green Party of Ontario, growing public awareness of energy issues have raised the party's profile recently.

“Rising energy prices are hitting Ontarians in the pocketbook,” Schreiner stated in a press release. “Ontario needs a long-term, sustainable energy plan that will make electricity bills affordable today and keep them affordable in the years to come.”

Dana Clark, president of the Sudbury constituency association, said the party is getting ready for the October provincial election.

“With just over six months to go in the 2011 provincial election, our riding association is gearing up and getting ready for our strongest campaign to date,” she said.

Those interested in running for the Green Party nomination should contact Leo Anger at 705-525-7144 or by e-mail at [email protected].
