The Sudbury health unit has issued two more warnings about potential high-risk exposures to COVID-19 that have happened in recent days. One incident occurred in Hanmer, part of Greater Sudbury, and the other incident occurred at M’Chigeeng on Manitoulin Island.

Public Health Sudbury and Districts (PHSD) is advising the public of a potential high-risk exposure to COVID-19 specifically for anyone who attended a social gathering in the woods near École Secondaire Hanmer (4800 Notre Dame Ave) in Hanmer on Saturday, Sept. 11, between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.

The health unit is also advising the public of a potential high-risk exposure to COVID-19 for anyone who attended a social gathering at the Pow Wow grounds, 352B Hwy 551, in M’Chigeeng on Sunday, Sept. 5, between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.

In both instances, PHSD is advising citizens to take precautions. Regardless of vaccination status, anyone who attended in either location and is experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, is advised to immediately self-isolate and seek testing at a local Assessment Centre.

Public Health Sudbury & Districts is reminding everyone to follow public health measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 including the more transmissible variants of concern. The safest options are to limit close contact to your own household members, stay home and not attend work or school when ill, work from home if possible, avoid non-essential travel, and remember to practise physical distancing, wear your mask, and wash your hands. For all outings, continue to screen yourself for symptoms and practise COVID-safe behaviours.

These are just two of several recent COVID-19 exposures in the district. To learn more visit the PHSD COVID-19 summary page.
