It has become an annual tradition for Vale Inco employee Edgar Burton to spearhead a canned food drive at Christmas time. Last year, more than 54 tons of food were donated to the Sudbury Food Bank, thanks to the generosity of employees in more than 200 local businesses.

Vale Inco, a major supporter of the City of Greater Sudbury Business and Employee Food Drive, supported efforts this year to expand the food drive into Rainbow Schools – with impressive results. Thousands of canned goods have been gathered for the less fortunate in the community.

Burton was at MacLeod Public School Dec. 18 to load thousands of cans gathered by students.

In addition to MacLeod Public School, participating schools included Northeastern Elementary School, Princess Anne Public School, Wembley Public School, Algonquin Public School, Jessie Hamilton Public School, Churchill Public School, Markstay Public School, Carl A. Nesbitt Public School, Valley View Public School, Cyril Varney Public School and Ernie Checkeris Public School.
