According to the agency, a weather system developing in Colorado will approach the upper Great Lakes, bringing with it rain and heavy wind.

"The rain will begin this morning in regions bordering the Great Lakes and then spread eastward and northward," warned the bulletin from Environment Canada.

Rainfall in the amounts of 40 to 80 milimetres is expected in most regions, but in areas where the system stalls or lags, more than 100 millimetres of rain is possible.

The warnings cover the areas of Wawa-white river-pukaskwa, Chapleau-Gogama, Sault Ste. Marie-Superior East, Manitoulin-Northshore-Killarney, Elliot Lake-Ranger Lake, Greater Sudbury and area, Timmins-Cochrane, North Bay-West Nipissing, before stretching into Quebec.

Environment Canada has also issues marine warnings (strong winds) for north and south Lake Huron, the North Channel, Georgian Bay, Lake Nipissing, Whitefish Bay, West and East Lake Superior, Lake Simcoe, Lake Nipigon, and Lakes Erie and Ontario.
