Champagne, hors d’oeuvres and classical music mixed with hard hats, yellow caution tape and concrete on Thursday evening. An unusual combination, but fitting for the celebratory roof capping of the 15 Maki condominium project.

Blue and gold balloons led condominium owners, partners and potential buyers to unfinished Unit 305 of the building to toast, not only the completion of the roof, but the finalization of move-in dates. Some owners even had the opportunity to envision their future homes during a tour of their units, which will be ready for occupancy in November.

Guests laughed and mingled with new neighbours while enjoying a clear view of the calm waters of Lake Nepahwin.
The project partners also joined in raising their glasses to the 15 Maki project.

“We are definitely looking forward to a few months from now when everybody can move in,” said Brian Savage, project partner. “We would like to thank our ‘early investors,’ as we would call them, for stepping up to the plate and having faith in us in producing a great facility for you down the road.”

“This is a pretty exciting project for us ... You as a buyer are going to be very, very happy here,” said Ron Arnold, president, Dalron Construction Ltd, during a speech.

Karla Colasimone, condominium sales representative with Dalron, said this building is different than other condominiums in the city because of its unique design. Perry and Perry Architects designed the building to allow every unit a view of the lake.

Twenty-one of the 33 units have been sold, said Colasimone. The penthouse units have patios that allow a view of the lake and also of the city. So far, one of the four penthouse suites has been sold.

Units range from $335,000 to $475,000.
