Ready for Pride? Here's the schedule to help you plan your week

Fierté Sudbury Pride week starts July 18. It's still a couple weeks away, but we wanted to get the schedule out early to help you plan your weekk.

The local LGBTQ2 community comes together to put on the biggest Pride celebration in Northern Ontario.

Flag Raising Ceremony: Monday, July 18, at 11 a.m. at Tom Davies Square. Everyone is invited to join this free kick-off to the 2016 Fierté Sudbury Pride Week Festival. Cake and Coffee will be served.

The Artiste Trans Artistry Show: Tuesday, July 19, from 5–8p.m. at the Sudbury Theatre Centre, 170 Shaughnessy St. Event is free. TG Innerselves and Myths & Mirrors team up to bring you an art show teeming with local talent, showcasing of Art by local Trans identified Artists. Meet and greet to follow.

Children & Youth Services Charity BBQ: Wednesday, July 20 at 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Fir Lane (behind the Child and Family Centre at 62 Frood Rd). Admission is a $5 minimum donation (free for participating youth). A BBQ in support of Fierté Sudbury Pride, hosted by the Children’s Aid Society of the Districts of Sudbury Manitoulin, the Child and Family Centre, Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) and GSPS Chief’s Youth Advisory Council. Youth with be guided to participate in an expressive arts project that inspires hope, well-being and confidence for members of the LGBT2SQ community. Youth Service agencies, businesses and members of the public are encouraged to come and show their support.

Reseau ACCESS Network Movie Night: Wednesday, July 20, at 6:30 p.m. and Imagine Cinemas Downtown Movie Lounge, 40 Elm St. Admission is  free, but donations are welcome. The featured film is the queer cult classic "Hedwig and the Angry Inch."

FSP Open Mic Night: Starts at 8:30 p.m. at the Fromagerie Elgin, 5 Cedar St. Event is free. Songs, poems, ukuleles — all welcome. One of the most popular Pride events is back by popular demand. This inclusive event is open to everyone, no pre registration required.

Annual Community Forum: Queer Seniors, to be held on Thursday, July 21, at  1 p.m. at the Sudbury Theatre Centre, 170 Shaughnessy St. Admission is free. Welcome Friends Association presents the film "Gensilent" followed by a panel discussion with community elders and health care professionals. All are welcome to attend.

La Diversité de Sudbury: Thursday, July 21 at 5 p.m. at the Centre de Santé Communautaire. Admission is free. FSP and the Centre de Santé Communautaire present a special movie night. Films to be screened are "J’ai que’chose a dire" and "Haut et Fort."

FSP Community Kudos: Thursday, July 21, at 8 p.m. at the Sudbury Theatre Centre, 170 Shaughnessy St. Cost is $15/person. An evening to celebrate and honour some of Sudbury’s best queer champions and allies! Awards presentation to be followed by A Queer Set, featuring special guest performers Kelly Perras and John Newlands. The evening will include a silent auction and catering by the Fromagerie Elgin.

FSP Poster Building Workshop: Friday, July 22, from 2-4 p.m. at Myths and Mirrors, 139 Durham St. Admission is free. In preparation for the Pride march, Myths and Mirrors will facilitate all of your Pride signage and poster-making needs. All are welcome, bring your creativity and your Pride. Donations of arts/crafts supplies very welcomed. FSP will transport any posters/signs to the park for you on Saturday.

FSP PRIDE PROM: Friday, July 22, 7:30-11:30pm at Sudbury Theatre Centre, 170 Shaughnessy St. Admission is free. A fantastic “Prom Style” event for LGBTQ youth and their allied friends (18 and under). Food, dress-up (show your unique style), prizes, dancing and more! Celebrity host Miss Fluffy Soufflé will keep the party fun and fabulous. A youth event not to be missed!

FSP Pride March and Pride day in the Park: Saturday, July 23 from 1-6 p.m. Admission is free. This is the main event, the 2016 Pride March through the streets of downtown Sudbury at 1 p.m. followed by a grand celebration in Memorial Park. A family friendly event for everyone that will include food, vendors, community booths and kid’s zone. Special guest artist, Nari, will be headlining an amazing lineup of live performers who will keep the party going all afternoon.

FSP Youth Social: Saturday, July 23, from 6–10 p.m. at The Open Studio. Admission is free. An opportunity for youth to mix and mingle after the big day. A safe, relaxed and inclusive space to hang out. Snacks, soft beverages and movies on offer.

The Spirit of Pride: Sunday, July 24, 11 a.m. at Sudbury Theatre Centre, 170 Shaughnessy St. Admission is free. St. Peter’s United Affirmed Church will offer a non-denominational service celebrating the LGBTQ community. An day of peace, unity and reflection to close the 2016 Fierte Sudbury Pride Week.

Fierte Sudbury Pride Week Festival is open to everybody. It is an event for the whole community.
