The mild temperatures have made for wet driving conditions (and an abundance of windshield washer fluid use) lately, but with the mercury expected to drop this evening, Environment Canada is warning drivers about the potential for freezing rain tomorrow.
Snow — heavy at times — is forecast to begin this evening. About five cm is possible before the white stuff becomes mixed with ice pellets overnight. That mixture of snow and ice pellets is expected to give way to a period of freezing rain tomorrow morning.
If that happens as expected, surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots can become icy and slippery, so be aware of your speed on your morning commute tomorrow (and make sure you leave early in case traffic is moving slowly).
The freezing rain should change to rain near noon tomorrow as temperatures rise above zero.
