(Just) Two Minutes of Silence

Two minutes of Silence.
Should it not be two Hours
Or two Months or two Decades?
Can it ever be long enough?
Make it longer than Memory
For it seems we forget the horror that war is,
The senseless deaths not wished for
But promoted by greed and stealth and
Life’s promise not given but taken,
By the power that is driven by wealth.
Oh the drums beat, the pipes play
The guns follow bombs,
The torn remnants of the living,
Scattered in battered tombs.
Two minutes two hours two decades, not so,
Make it forever, we want war to go.
But then let’s not be silent, let’s shout
Loud and clear it’s no shame to cry out,
That it’s the Silence we fear!

For Those

For those who went and fought our battles.
For those who left us all behind.
For those who pushed their fear to the limit.
There's those who have our thanks in kind.

For those who charged away to war.
For those who made us wait at home.
For those who went with hopes to win.
There's those who honor left to roam.

For those who guarded all we love.
For those who put an end to war.
For those who kept our play alive.
There's those who keep our peace a chore.

For those
