Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne has agreed to testify at the trial of two prominent Liberals facing bribery charges under the Election Act, according to reports.

The trial of prominent Sudbury businessman and Liberal fundraiser Gerry Lougheed, Jr. and Pat Sorbara, the premier's former deputy chief of staff is scheduled to begin in September.

The two are accused of offering candidate Andrew Olivier a job or appointment if he were to step aside in the 2015 Sudbury byelection in favour of Glenn Thibeault, then a NDP MP.

Thibeault successfully won the byelection as a Liberal and is now the energy minister in Wynne's cabinet.

Sorbara and Lougheed have denied the charges.
