Residents invited to share ideas on the budget

Greater Sudbury Mayor John Rodriguez and city council invite citizens to share their ideas and comments prior to the start of the 2007 budget deliberations.

A public input session will be held in each ward Monday Jan. 22, and a final public input session is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Tom Davies Square.

Council is encouraging all interested citizens to attend a public input session.

"These meetings are an opportunity for citizens to have their voices heard. Share your ideas about the opportunities and challenges facing the City of Greater Sudbury and what you think our priorities should be for the 2007 budget," Rodriguez said in a news release.

Ward meetings start at 7 pm Jan. 22 at the following locations:

Pre-registration is not necessary. Speakers are asked to keep their presentations brief to provide as many people as possible an opportunity to share their comments.

Written comments are also welcome. Comments may be submitted by email at [email protected],by mail to the Council Secretary, Tom Davies Square, 200 Brady St., Sudbury, P3A 5P3 or by fax to 671-8118. Written comments must be received by January 30.


The Finance Committee, chaired by Ward 8 Councillor Ted Callaghan, will begin deliberations to finalize the 2007 municipal budget Thursday, Feb. 22.
