Greater Sudbury residents will join a global effort this weekend to demand changes to protect the world’s climate, said organizer Cathy Orlando, a Laurentian University science outreach co-ordinator.

“I believe Sudbury is going to lead the way out of the climate crisis. So much momentum is in our community,” Orlando said in a phone interview with Northern Life.

On Oct. 23, there will be an awards ceremony for local actions taken to fight climate change, and an independent film, The Age Of Stupid, depicting the perils of runaway climate, at the Fraser Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. On Oct. 24, a series of walks and rallies will take place, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the end of Loach’s Road. There will be a rally at Science North at 10 a.m, followed by a walk to the Bridge of Nations downtown.
