Retired YMCA Sudbury staffer Gary Gray has been presented with the Jack Smythe Award by the Canadian Fellowship of YMCA Retirees.

The award recognizes the volunteer services many retired YMCA staff continue to provide at their local YMCA.

Since his retirement, Gray has taken an active role in program development and fundraising for the Northern Ontario YMCAs and the international development program in Khartoum, Sudan.

Over the past decade, Gray has also planned and carried out a program to rebuild the aging facilities at YMCA John Island Camp. He's developed significant alumni support for the camp. He's also the editor of the John Island newsletter.
