Rottweilers' owner has June 5 court date

The Sudbury man who allegedly left his three Rottweiler dogs tied to a tree in the bush made his first appearance in a Sudbury court May 1 on three counts of permitting his dogs to run at large, according to a news release from Rainbow District Animal Control.

He will appear again in court on June 5 to enter a plea or set a date for trial; if found guilty, he could face fines of up to $5,000 per count.

Meanwhile, a Levack woman was found guilty of permitting a dog to run at large, according to animal control. This second conviction for this woman this year resulted in a fine of $250 plus $55 in court costs being imposed.

An Onaping man was found guilty of permitting a dog to run at large and the set fine of $100 plus $25 in costs was imposed.

An Azilda man pleaded guilty to permitting a dog to bark excessively; it was agreed that he pay a $50 fine and $15 in costs.

Complaints regarding unlicensed dogs or cats, dogs or cats running at large or allowed off leash, barking dogs or owners who fail to stoop and scoop can be reported to animal control at 705-673-3647 between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. seven days a week.
