Ryan Benoit takes The Positive Inception to the next level

Young entrepreneur takes his clothing-with-a-message brand to standalone storefront on Lasalle

What began as mission to boost positivity in aspiring athletes has grown into a successful and rewarding business for a local entrepreneur.

Ryan Benoit started his local clothing brand, The Positive Inception, in early 2014 while he was a student at Laurentian University.

He never thought he would be opening his very own store just three years later.

"It was always like a dream of mine but now it's a reality, which is pretty cool," Benoit said, during the grand opening of his new storefront at 1212 Lasalle Blvd.

Previously, Benoit had a kiosk in the New Sudbury Centre where he first started selling shirts and sweaters donned with positive messages.

You may recognize Benoit's smiling face from the time Sudbury.com surprised him with an Act of Kindness during the 12 Days of Kindness campaign last December.

Sudbury.com received numerous nominations for Benoit from people that didn't even know him personally, but were so inspired by his positive attitude, they wanted to recognize him for the joy he brought to the mall every day. In fact, many mall employees reached into their own pockets to help us make the surprise even bigger.

Although Benoit made a lot of friends at the mall, he said he's looking forward to meeting even more new people at his new location.

"Having people come in and talk. Meeting new people, that's what I'm really excited about." he said.

"Social media has been blowing up in the last couple of days and the response from the community has been pretty positive."

The Positive Inception is located at 1212 Lasalle Blvd. in New Sudbury.
