Science North is closing for 12 days, from Monday, Jan. 7 through to Friday, Jan. 18 inclusive for scheduled maintenance.
The closure affects all of Science North’s attractions and facilities, including the science centre, IMAX Theatre, Virtual Voyages Adventure Ride and LakeHouse Restaurant. Science North's sales centre will remain open seven days a week from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. throughout this time period for IMAX Festival package and ticket sales.
Facility maintenance includes the servicing of ventilation, electrical and sewage systems, which will require water and power disruptions throughout the twelve-day period. The work has been planned for what is usually the slowest period of visitation at Science North, to minimize impact on visitors.
Science North will re-open with a bang on the evening of Friday, Jan. 18 with the launch of the annual 17-day IMAX Festival, presented by CTV and supported by local film sponsor Travelway Inn.
The opening event, ‘Martinis at the Max’, will be held on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7:30 pm, and will feature musical entertainment, specialty martini bars, hors d’ouevres and a screening of the giant-screen IMAX film Mysteries of Egypt. Tickets are only $40 (plus GST) and can be purchased in person at Science North or by phoning 523-IMAX (4629). The evening is hosted by CTV and supported by Smirnoff.
