Police to give update on Renee Sweeney case this morning

Greater Sudbury Police will hold a news conference at 9:30 a.m. "to discuss new, innovative technology that will be used in the ongoing Renee Sweeney homicide investigation," police said in a news release. On Jan. 27, 1998, Sweeney, a 23-year-old Laurentian University student, was stabbed to death while working at Adults Only Video in Sudbury.

Sudbury couple attends Women's March in Washington, D.C.

Sudbury couple Amber Gazdic and husband Chris Bolestridge attended the Women's March on Washington Saturday after being questioned for more than an hour at the U.S. border in Niagara Falls on Jan. 19.

Duhamel and Radford win sixth national title

Lively's Meagan Duhamel and partner Eric Radford earned their sixth national pairs title at the National Skating Championships at TD Place Arena in Ottawa on Saturday with a final score of 227.23.

The Sudbury and District Health Unit has been officially designated as “baby friendly” by the Baby-Friendly Initiative Ontario. The Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFI) is a world-wide strategy that sets standards for infant feeding. It was initiated to protect, promote and support breastfeeding.

ICYMI: Kivi Park so popular, parking lot expanded

The newly opened Kivi Park off of Long Lake Road in the city's South End has proven to be so popular, the park's development team has had to add an additional 40 parking spots. At one point last Sunday afternoon, there were 82 cars at the park's entrance, and some cars were even parked along Long Lake Road. So Pioneer Construction has added the extra parking.
