Severe thunderstorm watch in effect

Severe thunderstorms are possible this morning and afternoon, according to Environment Canada.

A thunderstorm watch is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and listen for updated bulletins.

A few rounds of thunderstorms may affect northeastern Ontario this morning and afternoon. Damaging wind gusts to 90 km/h and large hail will be possible with these thunderstorms.

The threat should diminish by this evening with the passage of a cold front.
