Show your pride: Clean your community

While spring cleaning may not be on your radar any time soon, the City of Greater Sudbury wants you to start thinking about it. Plans are underway for two cleanup events: The 20 Minute Makeover and the two-hour Clean Up Blitz.

While spring cleaning may not be on your radar any time soon, the City of Greater Sudbury wants you to start thinking about it.

Plans are underway for two cleanup events: The 20 Minute Makeover and the two-hour Clean Up Blitz.

First up, the city is inviting residents to participate in this year's 20-Minute Makeover, scheduled for Friday, April 22.

The goal is to collect loose litter on your property and adjacent public property.

Collected litter should be placed in your own residential garbage bags. If winter weather conditions hamper clean-up efforts, the deadline to complete the clean-up may be extended.

Residents that register and provide the before, during and after photographs of their clean-up efforts will have an opportunity to win one of three Big Blue residential recycling curbside containers. The winning business will win one year of of recycling collection services.

Those interested must register at any Citizen Service Centre or download the business registration form or the residential registration form.

Registration must be completed and submitted by Tuesday, April 19.

Second on the agenda is the Clean Up Blitz, scheduled from Saturday, April 30 from 9-11 a.m.

Residents are encouraged to do their part by spending two hours picking up roadside litter.

Participants must pre-register by April 22. No late registrations will be accepted. Register at any Citizen Service Centre or by downloading the registration package and faxing the group registration and program requirements information sheets back to 705-671-1148 or emailing it to [email protected].

Safety vests, gloves and garbage bags will be supplied.

For more information on either the 20 Minute Makeover or the 2-hour Cleanup Blitz, phone City Services at 311.
