After a marathon five-hour meeting Wednesday, city councillors passed the 2017 city budget with a 3.6 per cent tax increase, or about $100 a year for the average home. Pop-up bookshop opens today:

Latitude 46 Publishing is popping up with a holiday bookshop that will be downtown for three days from Dec. 15-17. The shop will be at 112 Durham St. at the former Frank's Deli location, and will be open between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Court ruling could mean criminals go free:

A recent Supreme Court ruling has police forces across the province – including Sudbury – scrambling to make sure people charged with serious crimes don't walk away scot-free. Acts of Kindness - Day six:

Our 12 Days of Kindness continues today with a trip to the New Sudbury Centre. Watch as Heather Green-Oliver and Sharon Bowes surprise some mall-goers with gifts to make their lives a little more wonderful.
